Our Heritage and its Influence - Sermon Notes

Worship Guide

Welcome to worship. Let’s fill our homes and our minds with the sounds of praise.
Please join in singing “How Great is our God”

Jesus, the King of Kings, is our Saviour. We sing of His power in “Stronger”

Psalm 24

The earth and all that’s upon it belong to the Eternal. The world is His, with every living creature on it. Who can possibly ascend the mountain of the Eternal? Who can stand before Him in sacred spaces? Only those whose hands have been washed and hearts made pure, men and women who are not given to lies or deception. The Eternal will stand close to them with blessing and mercy at hand, and the God who redeems will right what has been wrong.

Part of our time together today includes participating in Communion. Let us prepare our hearts through praying “The Lord’s Prayer” from Matthew 6:9-13 written below from The Passion Translation …

‘Our Father, dwelling in the heavenly realms,
may the glory of your name
be the center on which our lives turn.
10 Manifest your kingdom realm,
and cause your every purpose to be fulfilled on earth,
just as it is fulfilled in heaven.
11 We acknowledge you as our Provider
of all we need each day.
12 Forgive us the wrongs we have done as we ourselves
release forgiveness to those who have wronged us.
13 Rescue us every time we face tribulation
and set us free from evil.
For you are the King who rules
with power and glory forever. Amen.

The Scripture reading this morning is John 8:37-41. Please click on Rev Iris’s message link ‘Our Heritage and its Influence’. You will be able to sing with Sue “You died to set me free” and during communion time we will be singing “Bread and Wine”.

Our service this morning may stir in your hearts a response to Jesus’ call. We invite you to join in these two songs

“So you would come”
“Go forth in His Name”

May you find God in the little things and in the routines of life this week. Be blessed to be a blessing. Grace and peace to each of you.
